Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Elbow pasta
  • 3 cups Cheddar Cheese sharp
  • 2 cups Ham diced
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Mustard powder
  • 2 tablespoons Onion powder
  • 2 Eggs large
  • cup Sour Cream
  • 2 cups Milk whole
  • ¾ teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the elbow pasta to it. Cook the pasta for half the time of package directions. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
  • Into a large bowl, grate the cheddar cheese, reserving 1 cup for topping. Add the pasta and the diced ham to it.
  • Separately, in a medium bowl, mix flour, onion powder, mustard powder, and salt. Whisk in the eggs, sour cream, and milk until you obtain a smooth mixture.
  • Place the pasta in a baking dish and pour over the mixture of milk, sour cream, and eggs. Stir to combine. Top with reserved grated cheese.
  • Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly, and a crust is formed. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Full fat milk is my favorite but you can use low fat also.
Are leftovers good?
Like all pasta, this dish becomes less creamy the longer it sits out. Try to eat it while hot and fresh, however, the leftovers are absolutely divine if you like the pasta on the dryer side.
What other types of cheese can I use?
My choice of cheese was Cheddar, but you can also use Mozzarella, Emmental, Parmesan, Colby, Monterey Jack, or a combination of those. 
Note: Always shred your own cheese. The already shredded cheese in the bag has anti-caking additives that alter the final dish's texture and flavor. Besides that, freshly shredded cheese is better anyway.
Baking dish: You need a 9x13 inches baking dish. 
Can I freeze the Mac And Cheese With Ham?
Yes, it is good in the freezer for up to 3 months.
